Common EFF Tech Questions

Search practical answers for EFF accounts, email, applications, MyEFF, REACH, uploads, websites, privacy, and tickets.

Never enter a password, verification code, API key, Social Security number, bank detail, or private document in this search.
Accounts
My password is not working. What should I do?

Make sure you are signing in to the correct EFF platform, then use one fresh reset link.

  1. Open the platform home page instead of an old email link.
  2. Request one password-reset email and wait up to 10 minutes.
  3. Open only the newest message in a private browser window.
  4. Do not create a second account or send anyone your password or code.

Open a secure ticket

I see “login not recognized.”

That usually means the email is connected to another EFF product, the password is outdated, or an imported record still needs to be claimed.

  1. Check the address at the top of the page.
  2. Use the email that received the EFF invitation.
  3. If the page offers Claim an existing membership or application, use that path.
  4. Open one ticket if the same message appears after a fresh reset.
My session expired or the page keeps loading.

A stale tab or cookie can keep returning an old session.

  1. Close every EFF tab.
  2. Open a private browser window.
  3. Start at the correct platform home page and sign in again.
  4. If the loop continues, save the exact page URL and time in one ticket.
Email
My verification or reset email did not arrive.

Delivery can be delayed, filtered, quarantined by a school, or replaced by a newer request.

  1. Wait up to 10 minutes.
  2. Search all mail for Esther Funds Foundation.
  3. Check Spam, Promotions, Updates, and school quarantine folders.
  4. Request one fresh message and use only that newest link.
The link says it expired.

Invitation, reset, and secure-ticket links are time-limited. A newer request can also invalidate an older link.

  1. Return to the official platform.
  2. Request one new link.
  3. Open the newest email in the same browser where you started.
  4. Do not forward secure links to another person.
Scholarship Portal
The portal says an application already exists.

Do not create another account or application. EFF should reconnect the existing record.

  1. Use the email connected to the original submission.
  2. Record the scholarship or program name.
  3. Open one Tech Desk ticket with the exact message.
  4. Keep the existing record unchanged while the account relationship is checked.

Open an application-access ticket

Name Your Need is missing from my dashboard.

The application may exist under an imported record or a different verified email.

  1. Do not start a duplicate application.
  2. Confirm the email used for the original submission.
  3. Open one ticket and name the missing program.
  4. EFF will compare the verified account, imported record, and application owner.
How do I add information to an existing application?

Use the application already shown in your dashboard. If editing is not available, request a record review instead of starting over.

  1. Open Dashboard, then select the existing application.
  2. Look for Edit, Continue, or Respond to request.
  3. If none appears, open one ticket and list the information you need to add.
  4. Do not email highly sensitive documents.
REACH
My REACH invitation opens a 404 page.

Use the secure REACH claim route in the EFF Student Portal.

  1. Open portal.estherfundsfoundation.org/reach/claim.
  2. Use the email that received the ambassador invitation.
  3. Create or connect your account only through that page.
  4. Open one ticket if the invitation is not recognized.

Open REACH claim

I signed in but cannot see my REACH workspace.

The verified account may not yet be connected to the ambassador record.

  1. Confirm the account email matches the invitation email.
  2. Open the REACH claim page once.
  3. Do not create another EFF account.
  4. If the workspace remains missing, open one ticket for an account-to-record review.

Open Ambassador Workspace

MyEFF
MyEFF says my membership record cannot load.

The account may be signed in without permission to the matching member profile.

  1. Sign out of MyEFF.
  2. Open my.estherfundsfoundation.org in a private window.
  3. Use Claim an existing membership if your record was imported.
  4. Open one ticket if permission denied or loading continues.
My profile photo or document will not save.

The file may be too large, unsupported, or reaching a storage permission issue.

  1. Use JPG, PNG, WEBP, or PDF where accepted.
  2. Use a simple filename and keep the file under the displayed limit.
  3. Try one smaller known-safe file.
  4. If it still fails, open one ticket with the exact page and time.
Websites
A button gives a 404 or opens the wrong page.

EFF needs the page containing the button and the destination it opened.

  1. Copy the source page URL.
  2. Write the exact button text.
  3. Copy the incorrect destination.
  4. Submit those three details in one ticket.
The page says Invalid API key or configuration error.

That is a system configuration problem, not a mistake in your form.

  1. Stop retrying so duplicate records are not created.
  2. Save the exact error, page URL, and time.
  3. Open a P1 Tech Desk ticket.
  4. Never send an API key, password, or verification code.
Uploads
What files are safe to upload to a Tech Desk ticket?

Use a screenshot, PDF, or plain-text error log after removing private information.

  1. Remove passwords, codes, keys, Social Security numbers, bank details, and full IDs.
  2. Keep the file under 5 MB.
  3. Use PNG, JPG, WEBP, PDF, or TXT.
  4. Include the page URL and time in the written ticket.
Privacy
Will EFF ever ask for my password or code?

No. EFF staff and volunteers do not need your password, one-time code, private API key, full bank details, or Social Security number.

  1. Do not send the information.
  2. Remove it from screenshots.
  3. Use the secure ticket instead of ordinary email.
  4. Report any message that asks for a secret.
Tickets
How do I check my ticket?

Use your EFF-TECH ticket number and verified email to request a time-limited access link.

  1. Open Access My Ticket.
  2. Enter the exact ticket number and email.
  3. Use the newest secure link.
  4. Reply and close the ticket from the secure workspace.

Access my ticket

Why did my ticket close automatically?

Inactive tickets close after follow-up so the live queue stays accurate; the history is preserved.

  1. Read the final ticket email.
  2. If the same issue continues, open one new ticket.
  3. Reference the previous ticket number.
  4. Do not submit multiple tickets for the same active problem.
Status
How do I know whether an EFF website is down?

Check the public status page before repeating a submission.

  1. Open EFF Platform Status.
  2. Find the product you are using.
  3. If it is degraded or unavailable, wait for an update.
  4. If it is operational and your issue continues, open one ticket.

Support
Is the Tech Desk the same as the Student Help Desk?

No. The Tech Desk handles website, account, email, upload, and application-access problems. The National Student Help Desk handles educational support, advocacy, and resource navigation.

  1. Use the Tech Desk for technology problems.
  2. Use the Student Help Desk for school, funding-navigation, and advocacy support.
  3. Keep each issue in the correct case or ticket.
