Scholarship and Student Policies

Applications and eligibility

Applicants must provide truthful, complete information and meet every published requirement. Submission does not guarantee an award. EFF may verify enrollment, FAFSA completion, financial need, identity, and supporting records.

Rolling review and multiple recipients

A rolling program has no fixed closing date and may pause when funding or review capacity is reached. Early application is strongly encouraged. EFF may select multiple recipients; award number and amount depend on verified need, available funds, restrictions, and final authorization.

Selection and conflicts

Authorized reviewers use approved program criteria. Reviewers must disclose conflicts and recuse themselves when appropriate. EFF may request more information before confirming a decision.

Awards and payment

Award conditions, acceptance dates, and payment status are provided through the secure portal. Awards may be paid to a school, approved provider, or another authorized recipient depending on the verified need.

Fraud and application safety

EFF does not charge students to apply. Never pay for access, request Vercel access, or share a password, Social Security number, claim link, or verification code by email. Materially false information may result in denial, withdrawal, or revocation.

Nondiscrimination and accessibility

EFF is committed to fair access and does not discriminate in program administration on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, age, or another status protected by applicable law. Students may request accommodations or alternate formats.

Privacy and retention

EFF limits personal information to authorized administration, verification, reporting, security, and legal purposes. Records are retained only as reasonably necessary under the approved retention schedule, funding requirements, and applicable law, then securely deleted or de-identified. Read the Privacy Notice.
